Malayalam version of the classic novel 'The Stranger' by Albert Camus. 'Aparichithan' is translated into malayalam by Vattapara Sasi. It depicts the life of Meursault, an Algerian, who seemingly irrationally kills an Arab man whom he recognises in French Algiers. The story is divided into two parts: Meursault's first-person narrative view before and after the murder, respectively. Through this story of an ordinary man unwittingly drawn into a senseless murder, Camus explored what he termed "the nakedness of man faced with the absurd."

കാമുവിന്റെ തന്നെ വാക്കുകളില്‍ ''നമ്മുടെ സമൂഹത്തില്‍ അമ്മയുടെ മരണത്തില്‍ വിലപിക്കാത്തൊരുവന്‍ വധശിക്ഷയ്ക്ക് വിധിക്കപ്പെടണം.'' പ്രത്യക്ഷത്തില്‍ വളരെ ലളിതമെന്നു തോന്നുമെങ്കിലും സൂക്ഷ്മതലം വരെ അതീവ ശ്രദ്ധയോടെ രചിക്കപ്പെട്ട കൃതി. നാസി വിരുദ്ധപോരാളികള്‍ക്കിടയില്‍ വന്‍ സ്വീകാര്യത നേടിയ നോവലാണിത്.
