Pampa Bharatam is an adaptation of Mahabharata written by Kannada poet Pampa. He is popularly known as Adikavi Pampa and one of the greatest Kannada poets of all time. Translation is by C Raghavan. This Malayalam edition comes with an introductory study by M P Veerendra Kumar.
Pampa named the book Vikramarjuna Vijaya, which was written in praise of his patron king Arikesari. He compares the king with Arjuna's character in the epic and centers his work around Arjuna. He says this himself in the 51st verse of the first chapter. Vyasa's original work, however, does not portray any particular character as the hero of the epic.
