intervention, apart from colonialism and the anti-colonial resistance. Analyzing dominant discourses on Mysorean expedition and state in Malabar, the author underscores the need for historicing the period, where the economic and social aspects of the pre-modern times comes to the fore, rejecting the ulterior motives of the present day obfuscators of the politics of hate. The volume also sheds light into the early phase of colonial state and the nature of responses to which from the part of the indigenous people substantiated by supplementary data.
