On 26th December of 2004 , the gigantic and massive Tsunami had hit Andaman and Nicobar Islands in the early morning and about two hours after the mainland (mainly the eastern coast of India). But this two hours of time gap was not utilized either by the Government or by any NGO. This indicates the colossal knowledge gap amongst the people on the behavior and implications of Tsunami.
So the purpose of this handbook on Tsunami is to make the common man and the scientific communities of India understand that Indian subcontinent is certainly not safe from Tsunami and What need be done to minimize the impact of the next Tsunami on the potential victims?
To increase the readablity of this volume, amongst common people , text is aided by pictures, cartoons and graphics.
